Wayne Anderson began a graphics course at Leicester College of Art at
the age of fifteen and went on to a postgraduate year. He established
a freelance illustration career in London but later he moved back to the Leicestershire village of Kibworth Beauchamp, not wanting to bring up his family in the city. Wayne Anderson`s varied work has included greeting cards, posters, book jackets, magazine articles, record and CD covers, and advertising work as well as making his book, The Flight of Dragons (1978) into a full length animated film. His first children`s book, Rats’ Magic (l976), won the Gold Medal Award from the Society of Illustrators USA, for best illustrated children`s book. Wayne Anderson has gone on to to be the overall winnner Victoria and Albert Illustration Awards 2001 for Gnomes and Gardens; A Field Guide To The Little People, published by Pavilion and was Highly Commended in the same award for The Tin Forest in 2002.
